What are Tom’s Terrifics?
In the early days of Wilbur’s of Maine Chocolate Confections, Tom perfected a classic confection known as a turtle – a caramel, chocolate and nut cluster. If you visited our chocolate shoppes in Freeport and Brunswick in the 1980s and 90s, the chocolate sign read: Tom’s Terrific Turtles (cashew or pecan). That’s how you knew you were getting a Wilbur’s of Maine created confection – a base of fresh pecans or cashews with a generous dollop of our homemade gooey, creamy and buttery caramel, topped with our rich, premium milk or dark chocolate. Since then, we’ve discovered that the name “Turtles” is claimed by a specific company, so we’ve shortened the name at Wilbur’s of Maine to reflect our early alliteration creation – and “Tom’s Terrifics” were born! If you haven’t tired them, you are in for a terrific treat. Try some of Tom’s Terrifics here.
