Reports To: Panning Chocolatier Level 3

This is a part time or full time position. Sometimes limited production hours are available depending on business demand, although additional hours may be supplemented with other projects. When production demand is high, employees may be are expected to work additional hours. Overtime hours are only considered approved if advanced written approval from the production supervisor (interim A. Wilbur) is obtained.

Job Overview

A Panning Chocolatier Level 1 is responsible for working in the Panning area of the factory, assisting with panning operations (approximately 50%) and product packaging (approximately 50%). To be successful at this position, an individual must have attention to detail, be knowledgeable about the process of chocolate panning, aware of the environmental factors that impact on product quality and stability, and how the individual products are packaged and packed for either storage or delivery. This chocolatier has excellent knowledge of product specs and quality expectations of the client.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Follow all health and safety guidelines
  • Switch on equipment at the start of shifts and switch off at the end of shifts
  • Preparing panning equipment for the start of production; manage air flow pump of belt coater. Loading chocolate into melters.
  • Evaluate the quality of end product adhering to Wilbur’s quality standards
  • Ensure workspace is clean and neat including equipment sanitation
  • Ensure all checklists and documentation for panning room activities is complete and accurate
  • Proficient knowledge in pulling and returning product to storage areas
  • Work as team member in meeting production targets
  • Proficient in sifting/sorting/correcting product as preparation for belt coater machine, into polishing pans and finished product- including identification of seconds and remove from batch
  • Accurately weighing bulk product into cases, sealing boxes and applying appropriate labels.
  • Printing labels for cases prior to depletion of label stock.
  • Report any issues to the supervisor on duty
  • Responsive to coaching/feedback
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Experience in manufacturing or factory work is beneficial
  • Experience operating manufacturing machinery
  • Ability to work as part of a team, can accept coaching and feedback from supervisor and others
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Physical dexterity
  • Available for shift work and weekends as needed

Physical demands

To successfully perform the essential functions of this job you need to be able to stand for extended periods of time, to have physical dexterity as there is extensive repetitive movement and be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Pay Range: $17-18
